EU Open House 2019
Come to the Czech Embassy on Saturday, May 11, from 10am-4pm for a day of fun with family and friends!
The Slavic American Sokol performance is at 2:00pm.
Bring your spare keys – the symbol of the Velvet Revolution – to jingle in solidarity and hang them on the Czech Embassy’s fence to remember the fall of the communist regime 30 years ago. Then, drink a cold Pilsner Urquell and savor Czech cuisine while jamming with the rock star band Vladivojna La Chia.
Further, watch live police demonstrations by Czech bred canines of the Rockville’s K-9 Police Unit and view photographs on exhibit, which offer a glimpse into the lives of Czech soldiers and local residents in areas of conflict. Discover revolutionary Czech products, such as Snowfeet and the world’s first electric skateboard with artificial intelligence.
Have your children relish several acres of grassy meadows, face painting, and a bounce house inside the Embassy grounds. Enjoy watching young children from Sokol Washington and Slavic American Sokol, dressed in national costume, sing and dance! Finally, talk to CzechTrourism about travel tips to the Czech Republic.
The Czech Embassy annually partakes in the EU Open House, during which the Delegation of the European Union to the United States and the Embassies of 28 EU Member States to the United States jointly open their doors to the public.
Avoid long lines downtown! Spend all day at the spacious Czech Embassy and tour the Ambassador’s residence in the beautiful Rock Creek Park.
